Watch Jonah Hill’s Raw + Emotional Apology for Using Homophobic Slur [VIDEO]

Despite the hurtful remarks that paparazzi were making to him, Jonah Hill knew he was wrong when he lashed out at a photographer recently, calling him a “f—-t.” While he apologized for his actions on the ‘Howard Stern Show’ yesterday morning, he later went on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘ to further express his regret in an emotional and heartfelt apology.

“I’d actually like to address something, if that’s okay, to your audience,” a serious Hill asked the host, as the audience erupted into cheers.

“Unfortunately, this isn’t a joke,” Hill said, in an attempt to quiet the audience down before explaining the incident.

“This weekend I was out with some friends, and there was a paparazzi guy antagonizing me and calling me names and attacking me personally, my family personally, and I was genuinely hurt by this and made angry by this,” the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ star said. “And in response I wanted to hurt him back and said the most hurtful word I could think of at that moment.”

“I didn’t mean this in the sense of the word; I didn’t mean it in a homophobic way,” he continued. “I think that doesn’t matter, how you mean things doesn’t matter — words have weight and meaning. The word I chose was grotesque, and no one deserves to say or hear words like that.”

Hill, who has been a proud supporter of the LGBTQ community for his “entire life,” says he feels deep regret at disappointing and hurting those by using such a term.

“My heart’s broken, and I genuinely am deeply sorry by anyone who has ever been deeply affected by that term in their life,” he said, choking back tears.

Leaving the audience with one final message, he says that he hopes those watching learn a valuable lesson from his behavior.

“What I ask is that at home, if you’re watching this, and you’re a young person especially, if someone says something that hurts you or angers you, use me as an example of what not to do,” the Oscar-nominated actor boldly declared. “Don’t respond with hatred or anger because you’re just adding more ugliness to the world.”
